If you own a home theater system or are setting one up, then you will likely be looking to purchase a
subwoofer or a set of subwoofers to compliment your system. A subwoofer is what produces the booming bass effects in a speaker system. Without subwoofers, you won't be able to hear the bass effect in your system; all you will hear is treble.
Subwoofer SalesBelieve it or not, based on the way that subwoofers are manufactured, there is not a large difference between used and new subwoofer systems. When a cone is manufactured it is unlikely there will be any defects. If there is a defect, the speaker will generally blow within the first year of usage. If it lasts longer then that, then there is no defects; and no real way to know how long the cone will last. If you use your speaker system at a constant volume and are not blaring it all the time, the subwoofer, the cone, and the rest of the system should last a long time.
